Insurance

I am only occasionally asked if I am insured when I am called for a job.  This might be because I make it quite clear on my website that I am insured.  But, I also think that a lot of home owners are mainly concerned with the bottom line...how much will it cost.  This can turn out to be very costly.   If you get two or more quotes to paint a room, or many rooms, and there is a big difference between the hourly rate that the contractors charge there is most likely a reason. More specifically, if one of the contractors tells you that you they only charge $15 or $20 an hour it might be great for you pocket in the short term, but if something goes wrong, you might be in for a surprise.  Usually if a contractor charges really low rates it is because they are under the radar...they are not legit. Which means that if they screw something up...spill a gallon of oil primer on your new rug or hardwood floors..and they do not have liability insurance it will most likely come out of your pocket to fix the mistake.  The same is true for workers comp.  If a painter has employees, and one of them gets hurt on your property, and the contractor does not have workers comp for his emplyees, there is a chance that that hurt worker could put in a claim with your home owners insurance.  There is a reason why legitimate contractors charge more. When I first started out I had the proper insurance and I charged around the amount that I noted above.  It did not take me long to realize that being legitimate and charging really low rates for labor meant really small profits

I am insured through The Main Street America Group.   I can provide you with a proof of insurance through my insurance agent Carroll K Steele Insurance Agency in Gloucester.  Or,  If you would like to check to see if my insurance is up to date on your own, you can call Carroll K Steele Insurance Agency in Gloucester, MA at 978-283-5100.  I also carry Workers Comp insurance with A.I.M mutual, which I get through the same agency.
